Karashima Midori (辛島美登里) - Map (地図)

“Map” (地図) appeared in Karashima Midiro’s (辛島美登里) album “In Your Eyes.”  As I’ve already written in a previous blog post titled “Love too, Career too,” (恋も仕事も) Karashima said she wanted to write about the darker side of women in this particular album.  And “Map” is no exception.  It describes a girl who met a man, but eventually broke up due to different views about the future (or lack of).  She was afraid that she would not be able to get married as she grew older.  But when her new boyfriend proposed, she realized that the man she truly wanted to be with was still her ex-boyfriend.  Because there’s no turning back, she had to choose her current boyfriend.  The word “map” is a metaphor to describe, in general, that a woman wants to "see a path to the future", and wants someone to draw a “map” for her.

辛島美登里－地圖

「地圖」是辛島美登里在「In Your Eyes」大碟裡其中的一首歌。在「恋も仕事も」（戀愛也好 事業也好）那一篇blog裡頭我寫過，這張大碟裡面的歌曲，是辛島美登里想描寫女性一些比較陰暗的心態。這首也不例外，它講的就是一個女生跟一個男生戀愛，因為對未來的看法不同而分手，分手時害怕隨年齡增長但又找不到結婚對象，可是當她的新男友向她求婚時，她又發覺她真正愛的還是那個他，不過已不能回頭，只好答應眼前的那一位。至於「地圖」，是比喻女性在戀愛中很想有一個明確的方向，希望有人能畫出一幅完整的地圖。

人有些時候真複雜！

Karashima Midori (辛島美登里) - I Wanted to Turn into Your Love (あなたの愛になりたい)

Karashima Midori’s (辛島美登里) “I Wanted to Turn into Your Love” (あなたの愛になりたい) was released in 1996.  It was the ending theme song of Asahi TV’s show “Saturday Wide Theatre”.  In her own words, written in the pamphlet inside her “All Time Best” album, she was saying that this song was quite special.  All her other songs had their lyrics written before their title were decided, whereas the title of this song was already in her mind before she had written a single word.  She jokingly said that she’s just creating a problem for herself.  Because the contents of “Saturday Wide Theatre” was quite heavy, she wanted to write a song about broadness of love that, upon hearing at the end of the show, could make people feel relieved and enter Sunday refreshed.  Interestingly, she said that after she finished the song, there’s something that she couldn’t “catch up”, and it took her about 10 years to be able to sing it naturally.  She also felt that she was describing the love of the same girl who has grown up slightly from “Silent Eve” (サイレントイヴ).

辛島美登里－我願化成你的愛（あなたの愛になりたい）

辛島美登里的歌曲「我願化成你的愛」，1996年發行，它是朝日電視「星期六WIDE劇場」的結尾曲。根據美登里她本人在「All Time Best」大碟裡頭說，所有其他的歌都是先有歌詞再有題目，唯獨是這首歌，心目中早已有了題目，所以寫起來特別困難（她是笑著說的）！由於劇場的內容沈重，所以她考慮以「宏闊的愛」做主題，寫一首讓人在星期六晚上看畢劇場後，無論怎樣都可以有一種釋放的感覺，能爽快地迎接星期日的歌云云。美登里亦說，歌詞完成後，覺得自己有一些東西仍未能「趕上」似的，整整用了近10年時間才能自然地唱這首歌。她還覺得歌裡所描述的好像是從「Silent Eve」（サイレントイヴ）裡面那女主角成長至今的那份愛。

Matsuyama Chiharu 松山千春 - Koi 恋

I first heard this song through Nakamori Akina’s (中森明菜) cover version in her “Folk Song” album.  In fact, after listening to the original version on YouTube, I like Akina’s version more.  In summer 2009, Akina had a concert in Yokohama, where she sang the songs from her “Folk Song” and “Folk Song2” albums.  “Koi” (恋) was her second last song in that concert.  You can view it here (http://youtu.be/ry9m4-8bES8).  Because of the content of this song, I read a number of discussions regarding her “smile” towards the end of the song.  People were wondering if she’s bidding last goodbye to her relationship with Kondo Masahiko (近藤真彦).  Anyway, I love both he melody and the lyrics.  I’m sharing my English translation with you.

松山千春－恋

第一次聽這首歌，是中森明菜在她「Folk Song」大碟裡頭的翻唱版。其實，我在YouTube上聽了松山千春的原版，覺得明菜的版本更好。明菜2009年8月在横濱舉辦了一個演唱會，所有歌都是她「Folk Song」和「Folk Song2」唱片裡面的歌曲。她尾二唱的就是「戀」這首歌。在YouTube上可以在這兒（http://youtu.be/ry9m4-8bES8）看到。基於這首歌的內容，我看到網上有一些討論，說她最後的那個微笑，是不是對她和近藤真彥那一段戀情作最後告別。無論如何，我自己很喜歡這首歌的旋律和歌詞。翻譯成中文跟大家分享。
