Another Akina (中森明菜) song.  I first listened to Southern Wind (サザンウインド) on a tape borrowed from my cousin.  I don't know why but I got hooked on to it.  It's probably because of its impressive melody.  It was a long time before I realized it was written by Tamaki Koji I was quite surprised at that time because I thought he only wrote for his own band Anzen Chitai

I'm also impressed by Kisugi Etsuko's (来生えつこ) lyrics whose playfulness fits the melody pretty well.  At least, that's what I think.

And one more thing, the story of this song takes place in Okinawa, which is usually referred to as "Southern Country".

You can listen to it on YouTube here - http://youtu.be/U-yAs6h_RRM

Southern Wind

Composer: Tamaki Koji
Lyrics: Kisugi Etsuko

Sea breeze, I'm greeting you
My body in natural rhythm
Panama hat spinning and spinning, revolving around my finger

The fruit wine on the table
A message delivered from a stranger
Bewildered by his strong gaze beyond my back

Crossing his legs on a white chair
Resting his chin on his palm, making quite an impression
A bit of a movie mood
Combing up his hair in melancholy
A dangerous heart

Under the silhouette of coconut tree shade
Putting my suntanned body to a little rest
As for gazes with obvious intentions, I pose in ignorance

Boys who get used to luring
So many attractions by the seaside, unable to decide
I was lured in spite of myself, waving my arms
Towards the beautiful young boy on the yacht
His dazzling iris

Boys who get used to luring
Even hotel windows are targets of their calling
Fresh hair fluttering in the wind
A playful wink of an eye
Dangerous, isn't it?  I wonder
