As I've explained in the blog post, Karashima Midori always uses quite a lot of analogies and symbols in her lyrics.  In the first 2 lines, she's using the moon phase to symbolize the relationship between her and her lover.  It started as full moon (full of happiness, full of love) at the beginning but as time goes by it deteriorates.  It's like chasing the moon to its crescent state.  Soon it'll be completely dark before the full moon (a new relationship) begins all over again.
